9th aug .2000 eLECTRO-aCOUSTIC begins with music and behaviour from an undazzling array of artistes including : Victor Mount's spoken word disco , Alex Impey's modified toys and Daniel Weaver's live sampling cello . Events are free and drinking is allowed . Expect variety and unpredictability at a pleasant volume . *************************************************************** MONDAY 4th SEPTEMBER 2000 8pm til 12midnight . ENTRANCE FREE . Gareth Bibby ; analog electrician (RSI/DiscoOperatingSystem) , Simian 4 ; JJohn Howard & Paul Bardsley (Molly Half Head) , Spencer Marsden ; Quadraphonic Electrician (Mildmanjan/Switchflicker) , Mary Oliver ; Voice , Microphone and Video , Daniel Weaver ; Sampling Cello and Bowed Laptop . This week includes a vocal set , from JJ Howard . But Gareth Bibby (Disco Operating System) and Spencer Marsden (MildmanJan) almost certainly won't sing , so I was preparing a couple of Johny Cash cover versions to balance out the ratio of mouths to boxes when Mary Oliver agreed to present a piece about Mouths and Microphones . So now I can go back to Mulching the cello through a laptop , Spencer will present music made out on the beach (out of the beach) in glorious double stereo , JJ will unveil his larynx and Gareth can do whatever he likes : The variety is ensured , the chance meeting of iLECTRICITY with oCOUSTICS on the operating table awaits you . ================================= Sept. 18th 2000= Kaffe Matthews ; Environmental Sampling , Hayley Newman ; wrapped up objects , Sodom ; (Daniel Weaver-Guitar/Voice , Martin Hennin-BigBass , JJohn Howard-Drum n Cymbal .) Songs for red boxes and funereal massage parlours . The next week features two women from London's Art music scene and more songs of the appalled . Hayley Newman recently sold most of her 2D works to the Saatchi Gallery , but is perhaps better known for sound works involving ; a skirt made of microphones , a velcro suit , vibrating amplified shoes ..... Kaffe Matthews uses live sampling processes to turn the sounds of the room into music , before your very ears . Remixing the street sounds or hiding microphones in the toilet , who knows . SODOM is a band to die to ; desperate songs and hopeless reinterpretations of previously optimistic notions . ---------------- |
